Home-sharing company Airbnb has made no secret of the benefits it brings to District residents, having launched a local advertising campaign last month. Now, in a report released today, Airbnb says its D.C. hosts earned more than $53 million using the platform from October 2015 to October 2016—generating over $10 million in tax revenue. The report comes as the company tries to convince regulators in the region and across the country that it should continue being treated distinctly from the hotel industry and that it introduces tourism and other economic activity to major cities….
