The City of Vancouver’s plan to tackle short-term rentals may be a winner, based on the takes of those who came to a public hearing on the matter Wednesday — and that includes those of residents and staff at Airbnb. The city has proposed to sell business licences to residents who want to rent out their homes through short-term rental services. Homeowners and tenants would be allowed to apply for a licence, but only for their principal residences and so long as other rules like strata restrictions or tenancy terms don’t bar them from doing so.
