The de Blasio administration, eager to learn how other global cities are confronting the regulatory challenges posed by so-called “sharing economy” stalwarts like Uber and Airbnb, is planning to host a global gathering on the topic next May, the mayor’s office told POLITICO New York. But while Mayor Bill de Blasio believes there is a lot to be learned from and shared with other cities, he does not plan on subscribing to the common, global regulatory framework Paris and some other cities hope to roll out by October. Rather, his administration wants to be part of an ongoing conversation with other global cities about how best to develop a “similar approach,” said de Blasio spokesman Wiley Norvell….
