Last week, Airbnb — apparently unaware that it was skirting the law — issued prepared statements through its public relations team that it believed state lawmakers “cut a last-minute deal with the hotel industry” to pass the bill. They referred to it as “a bad proposal that will make it harder for thousands of New Yorkers to pay the bills.” The New York Business Journal asked Oved to provide some perspective on what’s at stake for Airbnb and how, if the bill passes, it could actually benefit renters….
