To support the city’s hotels, the Association utilizes outside professional counsel to complement its wide range of services without sacrificing in-depth knowledge and expertise. The services provided include:
LABOR/LEGAL COUNSEL
The Hotel Association of New York City offers legal representation in labor-related matters including contract negotiations, mediations, arbitrations and advice and consultation on contract interpretation. We do this through Kane Kessler, P.C., a New York City based full service law firm, with a department specializing in Labor and Employment Law. Kane Kessler’s Labor and Employment Law Department is staffed by attorneys experienced in the field and in assisting member Hotels who are bound to the IWA, the Division A CBA and the GRIWA.
STATE/CITY LEGISLATIVE REPRESENTATION
By monitoring and reviewing all pending state legislation, agency rules and regulations which affect the membership, the Association affords the opportunity to contribute to decisions in the formative stages regarding issues that have direct bearing on the hotel industry.
Booking Engine
HANYC's booking engine powers our new website www.findhotels.nyc and will serve to increase room revenue for its members while lowering the distribution costs by using meta-search engines such as Google Hotel Finder, TripAdvisor TripConnect, Trivago and Kayak.
HX: THE HOTEL EXPERIENCE - ROOMS TO RESTAURANTS
The Association co-sponsors HX: The Hotel Experience – Rooms to Restaurants at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center which draws more than 60,000 attendees annually, and has over 1,500 exhibitors from all sectors of the industry.
HANYC Scholarship Program
The Association of New York City awards two four-year scholarships of $2,500.00 per year for the school term beginning in September each year.
LEGAL COUNSEL
The Association keeps the membership abreast of current federal laws and regulations and the effect that they have on hotel business operations; providing reports on new and changing laws and regulations and legal bulletins regarding these laws and detail requirements for compliance.
FIRE PROTECTION AND PUBLIC SAFETY
The Association provides advice and guidance to individual hotels. As to public safety, the Association has regular meetings with the leaders of the New York City Police Department and the New York City Fire Department so that members are apprised of all matters relating to security issues.
INDUSTRY AFFILIATIONS
Members of the Hotel Association of New York City, Inc. receive automatic membership in the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association, and the American Hotel & Lodging Association.
Networking events participation
This includes: Annual Golf & Tennis Outing, Blood Drive, Walkathon, Big Apple Stars Awards, Walkathon, Red Carpet Hospitality Gala, Annual Meeting and Cocktail Reception and other events
Educational conferences
The Association members are invited to join a variety of the industry conferences, including: Digital Marketing, Safety/Security, Human Resources, Cybersecurity, Waste Management, Adapting to Consumer Trends Through Technology
