Webinar: Introduction to New Safety & Health Consultant Retained -- hotel members only

As we have reported, the IWA expires on June 30, 2026. While early negotiations for a successor agreement have been ongoing, the possibility of increased Union scrutiny of hotels, particularly with regard to the safety and health provision of the IWA remains.

To assist member hotels to prepare for and address potential Union activity, the Hotel Association is pleased to announce the retention of Gallagher Bassett Technical Services (“Gallagher Bassett”). Gallagher Bassett, centrally located in Midtown New York is an industry leading occupational safety and health consultant for use by Hotel Association general and labor members. Gallagher Bassett provides both 365/24/7 emergency on-site response coverage, assessments, and remediation to hotels as well as on-site proactive audits and assessments of their facilities.

Gallagher Bassett’s retention was necessary as a prior consultant Emilcott Associates (now part of Triumvirate Environmental in New Jersey) had become increasingly unresponsive, unreliable, and lacked capacity to address emerging safety and health circumstances in member hotels. Going forward, the Association will request on behalf of its members that the IC appoint Gallagher Bassett as an expert to assess, report and make recommendations for remediation when disputes arise with the Union under the safety and health provision of IWA Article 69.

The Association will host an online webinar on May 5th, 2026 at 10am to introduce Gallagher Bassett’s technical team, provide greater details of its vast environmental health and safety expertise, its emergency response, remediation and proactive assessment capabilities.
