On Monday, April 28, 2025 at 1:00pm, we will host a mandatory webinar for Human Resource Directors and for those General Managers who handle Union grievances.
The reason for the mandatory webinar is that we are concerned and disappointed that many Hotels, it appears, do not understand the importance and value to each Hotel of the mediation process. We regret to say that too often, Hotels are unprepared for mediation by either not providing EGS with the details and documents for us to properly defend you in advance of the mediation and further, by coming to the mediation hearing without having settlement authority. The effect is that far too often, Hotels that come unprepared or without authority delay the mediations that are scheduled for the day (usually around 15 per day). The other effect is that the lack of preparedness may result in a case that should have been settled proceeding to arbitration where we risk a bad IC decision for the Hotel or the Industry on the adage that “bad facts make bad law.”
As a result, we are scheduling a webinar to review how Hotels should prepare for, and attend mediations, so that we can help you be successful in defending or prosecuting your Hotel’s grievance. It is very important for you to attend.
