The battle lines are clear. On one side are unit owners using short-term rental websites to earn extra income by leasing their unit for a night, weekend or sometimes a longer time period, and on the other side are community associations opposed to short-term rentals due to perceived negative perceptions and security risks and governing document provisions that prohibit short-term rentals. Even municipalities have been grappling with how to deal with the explosion of short-term rental websites such as Airbnb.com and VRBO.com in terms of regulations, licenses and taxes….
