CAMBRIDGE – While city councilors have made it clear they don’t want to shut down Airbnb, they expressed concerns at a public hearing Tuesday about the popular short-term rental service being used for commercial purposes. At the first meeting of the council’s Housing and Public Safety Committee to discuss short-term rentals, which drew a packed house at City Hall on July 19, Vice Mayor Marc McGovern said he wants to gain a better sense of the changing economy and the new industry of short-term rentals, so that both homeowners and proprietors are protected….
