HANYC is pleased to host a webinar presented by HumanWorks, a hospitality consulting and search firm and allied member of HANYC, on Tuesday November 17th at 2pm.
When a manager leaves, someone covers the shift, someone retrains, and everyone waits to see if revenue and reviews hold. Most hotels can’t say which departures cost the most, or which managers are worth a counteroffer.
HumanWorks studied the career profiles of more than 15,000 people who have worked in hotels and restaurants. About 8,000 live in the New York area. In 30 minutes, see what they found and how to use it:
Is your turnover normal? About 4 in 10 manager jobs end within about 2 years. Rooms: 54%. Food and beverage: 51%. Sales: 44%. Executives and owners stay longest: 25%.
Where do they go? More than half of those who leave take the same kind of job somewhere else. About half join another hotel.
Where will your next GM come from? About half of assistant GMs later became GMs. So did about 1 in 3 who ran operations.
Keep, counteroffer or quickly replace? A short checklist to decide, role by role.
For independent hotel owners, regional leaders and GMs. Also for heads of rooms, food and beverage, the kitchen, sales, revenue, operations and HR. We leave time for questions. You can register even if you can’t attend live. Register, and your confirmation email includes a one-page benchmark card. It shows how long rooms, food and beverage, kitchen, sales, revenue and operations managers stay, and where they go. After the session you get the recording and the checklist. They are yours to keep.
